Give me a break!

Cal/Arizona......two teams who played a bad game.  Arizona played worse than Cal.....in fact, they appeared to be trying to lose.  There was no strategy, the play calling was ultra-predictible and the execution as horrible.....and yet, UA almost won, IN BERKLEY.  It's not that UA deserved to win...they didn't.  It was just that it was remarkable that the game was so close in spite of UA doing everything they could to lose.....other than the fact that they made a couple of interceptions.  I was extremely disapponted in Foles.  He looked like a scared rabbit all afternoon.  This is astonishing after seeing him against Stanford two weeks ago.  I realize that they are out of running backs and that it probably affected the play selection, but I'm not sure they would have beated WSU had they played like they did yesterday, last week.

Anyway, I hope there is some imporovement at home next week and that the season can be salvaged with a win over Oregon at home.  At this point, I don't see a chance against USC and ASU is a toss-up.  So my apologies to niners fan for allowing myself to be taken in by some mis-placed homerism

Where are the Wildcat "Fanatics"?

Where are the Fanatics??????

The name of the group is the Arizona wildcats football fanatics but I don't see any posts in over a year....well, maybe one.  I just joined this site a few days ago so I'm the new kid on the block, but I was hoping to see a few more Wildcat posts.  They have possibly the best team in many, many years and we are not even discussing why.

Just think, they only need to beat Oregon and 2 of the other three games to go to the Rose Bowl.  I'm not going to get too excited until I see how they do against Cal in Berkley this week, but when I saw #31 unveiled last week.....and an immediate response by Oregon in bringing Blount back after he was supposedly suspended for the season, they have my attention.  If Oregon is THAT worried about coming into Tucson, I may just give up my beer on the couch and actually go to the game!

UA thumps ASU for first winning season since 1998

Score: 10
December 7, 2008 9:12 pm

Mike Thomas broke the game open with a 52-yard punt return for a score and Arizona whipped Arizona State 31-19 in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday night, clinching the Wildcats first winning season since 1998. Nic Grigsby rushed for 284 yards and two scores for UA, which was expected to accept a bid to the Las Vegas Bowl. Cardinal-clad Arizona students rushed the field to celebrate the Wildcats most lopsided Territorial Cup triumph since a 30-6 victory in 1964. The Wildcats ended a three-game losing streak to the Sun Devils (5-7,4-5), whose string of four straight bowl appearances ended. Down 10-7 at halftime, the Wildcats blew the Sun Devils halfway to Casa Grande with 21 third-quarter points. UA ended the regular season and the Pac-10 Conference with a 7-5,5-4 Pac-10 record.
